Shelly O'Quinn

About the Candidate:Shelly Maak O’Quinn was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. She graduated from Central Valley High School and Whitworth University (1997), where she majored in Business Administration and Accounting. Shelly later completed her MBA at the Monterey Institute for International Studies in California.

After she returned to Spokane with her husband, Shelly worked for Habitat for Humanity Spokane as the Family Services Director and then for the Inland Northwest Community Foundation as the Senior Program Officer. Shelly also served as the founding Executive Director at the George Nethercutt Foundation where she oversaw all aspects of the Foundation’s mission. Currently she is the Workforce Development Manager for Greater Spokane Incorporated. She is actively involved in the Spokane community and serves as a board member for Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest, the World Affairs Council of Spokane, and Spokane Neighborhood Action Program’s (SNAP) Financial Access.

 

Kevin Parker

About the Candidate:Kevin first came to Spokane in 1992 as a student at Whitworth University. He later continued his education, completing the M.B.A. program at George Fox University, followed by receiving a certificate of 21st Century Leadership from the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

After spending a few years away, Kevin and his wife Kerry decided to return to Spokane to raise a family and start their own business. Kevin has deep roots in Spokane, as he serves on the Boards of the YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club He is also a committee member of SNAP, Meth Action Team, GSI Armed Services Committee, Young Life, Operation Spokane Heroes, and Rotary. In 2006, he volunteered extensively on the campaign of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers as well as moonlighted on other local and national campaigns. Kevin Parker is the President of GTG Ventures, which owns an expanding business of three coffee locations and a growing number of employees.Before GTG Ventures, he also served as staff for former Congressman Smith (OR), and started and owned, Parker and Associates, a successful financial services business at the age of 26.

 

Ozzie Knezovich

About the Candidate:Ozzie Knezovich grew up in the Rock Springs area of Wyoming. Ozzie began working in the family business when his father started a small earthmoving company. By the time Ozzie was 18 years old, he was helping run the company with the responsibilities of bidding, planning and managing construction projects. Ozzie worked his way through college taking jobs as a laborer in the coal mines and graduated from Weber State College with a bachelor's degree in management, law enforcement and marketing.

After college, Ozzie chose to serve his country by joining the military. He served in the United States Army for 3 years, attaining the rank of sergeant. Ozzie was unanimously appointed the 25th Sheriff of Spokane County on April 11th, 2006 by the Spokane County Board of Commissioners and was elected Sheriff of Spokane County in the General Election by 75% of the voting citizens. With 19 years of law enforcement training, the last 14 years with the Spokane Sheriff's Office, Ozzie continues to believe that quality training is the key to professional law enforcement.

 

Steve Salvatori

About the Candidate:Steve received his B.S. in Business Administration from University of Northern Colorado in 1976 and went on to attend graduate classes at the University of Colorado. He later received MBA degree in Financial Management from National University in Vista, CA in 1983. After purchasing their home in 2006, Steve and his wife, Sami, became actively involved in the community. Steve is a board member of the Downtown Spokane Partnership, Delta Angel Group, Terabyte Triangle, and Spokane Preservation Advocates. He also belongs to the Friends of the Falls and is a consistent volunteer for the Spokane River Clean Up.

Steve founded the Spokane Entrepreneurial Center in 2007 in order to help encourage the formation of new businesses. The SEC offers low cost office space to those in need; over 140 businesses have contacted the SEC home within the last three year looking for assistance. The company has recently been nominated for the Governor's Best Practices Award for Workforce and Economic Development. Steve is also President and CEO at Salvatori-Scott, Inc., a successful consumer products brokerage company he founded 22 years ago in his basement. SSI has grown to 14 people, representing over 100 manufacturers of consumer products, and generates over $300 million in retail sales annually.
